Market launch of the CentronicPLUS Cube

The new CentronicPlus wireless system from Becker is now compatible with homee
Becker is continuing its strategy of openness. After already introducing its new drive series with integrated EnOcean and DECT-ULE wireless receivers last year, the company is now creating a new interface to the leading wireless systems in the smart home sector. homee – the modular and manufacturer-independent smart home control unit – allows users to conveniently control smart home components that use a variety of different wireless standards such as Zigbee or Z-Wave via a central app.

The new CentronicPLUS wireless system
The new CentronicPlus wireless system stands out due to one very special feature:
All of the connected devices are combined with one another in a sort of network, which is generated by the devices themselves in a completely independent way. This type of network is described as a “self-healing” mesh network in specialist circles. Every device knows all of the other devices in the network. Information is transmitted between the devices – in contrast to other solutions where the individual devices are isolated from one another and only communicate with a central control unit. This offers one decisive advantage: As the individual devices communicate with one another, the wireless command is able to take its own path, which increases the range of the signal enormously.

A focus on customer benefits
“Naturally, we like to offer our customers complete solutions from our product range when they are installing new roller shutters and sun protection systems. However, the reality is that many customers are already using some smart devices in parts of their home. By integrating our products into homee, customers can enjoy the advantages offered by the CentronicPlus system for roller shutters and sun protection systems and also use other wireless ecosystems at the same time. homee is the ideal solution in these situations because it combines various different wireless worlds and applications within one app for the benefit of the user”, is how Frank Haubach, Sales and Marketing Manager at Becker, summarises the benefits to customers.

homee makes it possible to use four standard wireless systems (WiFi, Z-Wave, Zigbee, EnOcean) and three proprietary wireless systems (Becker CentronicPlus, Hörmann BiSecure, Warema WMS) in one single app. Customers are thus able to individually combine the wireless standards they require using different cubes. The modular nature of the system is what makes homee unique – no other smart home central unit supports open wireless systems such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, WLAN and EnOcean and also proprietary wireless systems from renowned manufacturers such as Becker, Hörmann or WAREMA at the same time.

Future viability through strong partnerships
The cooperation with Becker is also a logical step for homee. On their journey to creating a truly smart home, users will sooner or later have to tackle the issue of smart roller shutter and sun protection drives. As these drives are always integrated into carrier products such as roller shutters, awnings or zip screens, there is a high demand for high quality and durable products. “We are delighted to have secured one of the leading manufacturers of roller shutter and sun protection drives as a partner. Even during the development phase for the CentronicPlus Cube and the associated development work on our app, we were able to benefit from Becker’s expertise in the automation of roller shutter and sun protection systems”, explains Waldemar Wunder, Managing Director of homee GmbH.

“We are convinced about the future viability of homee as a system and as a company. This is due, on the one hand, to the dynamic and collaborative partnership with the management and employees at homee and, on the other hand, to the fact that homee has other strong partners – in addition to Becker – that will help the company achieve good market penetration”, says Frank Haubach. Alongside various different energy supply companies, for example, Europe's leading full-service provider of sun protection systems WAREMA and the door and gate manufacturer Hörmann are also helping the homee system expand on the market.
