More openness in the smart home

CentralControl CC41 now with Matter®
Free software update makes the Becker smart home hub even more flexible and usable across platforms

With the new Matter® capability of the CentralControl CC41, Becker is significantly expanding the possible applications of its smart home hub. The free software update makes it even easier to integrate the CC41 into modern, cross-manufacturer smart home environments. For users, this primarily means greater openness, greater compatibility and more freedom when choosing their preferred user interface.

The CentralControl CC41 is already designed as a versatile smart home hub for controlling roller shutters, sun protection, lighting and other household applications. It supports Centronic and CentronicPLUS radio products and enables convenient commissioning, configuration and operation via a free app. Operation via smartphone, tablet or desktop, local data storage on the device and optional secure remote access are also among the strengths of the solution. In addition, the CC41 offers proven convenience functions such as time programs, a holiday program, automatic summer/winter time changeover and the retention of switching times even in the event of a power failure.

With the Matter® upgrade, this proven platform is now being enhanced with a key technology for the future. The new functionality can be easily installed on the CentralControl CC41 free of charge via a software update. With only a few exceptions, all devices programmed into the CC41 are then displayed as Matter® devices and can be operated accordingly. A particular milestone is the use of what the company says is the world’s first certified Matter® stack. This underlines Becker’s commitment to providing innovative and future-proof solutions for the connected home.

For users, this opens up tangible added value in everyday life: devices integrated into the CentralControl CC41 can in future be operated via common Matter® interfaces such as Google Home, Apple Home, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant or Eve. Pairing is particularly easy using a QR code directly from the CentralControl app. In this way, Becker combines the benefits of its established control ecosystem with the openness of the Matter® standard, making integration into both existing and new smart home systems significantly easier.

With the Matter® extension, the CentralControl CC41 is being consistently developed further: from a powerful smart home hub for the Becker product world into an even more open platform for connected building automation. This creates additional flexibility for specialist partners and end customers alike, while also strengthening the future viability of systems that have already been installed.
