Future-proof automation
Detached house in Zittau relies on Becker technology
Modernized step by step and prepared for the future
In a district of Zittau, a modernized detached house demonstrates how intelligent control technology can sustainably improve living comfort, energy efficiency and security. The property was equipped by Sun-Service GmbH & Co. KG, which relied on a wide range of Becker solutions. The result is a future-proof system that has evolved over many years, can be flexibly adapted to new requirements and provides the resident with noticeable convenience in everyday life.
The house was originally built as a new construction in 1997, extensively renovated in 2007 and has since been modernized and expanded step by step. During the renovation, almost all the necessary provisions were already put in place to allow future additions and technical upgrades to be implemented with ease. This forward-looking planning proved to be a key success factor: over the years, new products and functions could be integrated seamlessly without the need for fundamental changes to the existing structure.
Partnership as the foundation for successful projects
For Sun-Service GmbH & Co. KG, the project is also an example of the benefits of a long-standing, trust-based partnership. The company has been working with Becker for 25 years and particularly values the reliable support provided by both the field and internal sales teams, as well as the expert technical assistance. Especially in projects where different drives, control units and automation solutions need to be coordinated effectively, this support is a key factor in ensuring successful implementation.
Versatile solutions for roller shutter and sun protection applications
A wide range of Becker solutions was used throughout the property for various applications. These included nine roller shutters on the ground floor with radio drives and individual wall switches, two hard-wired roller shutters in the basement with VC420 PLUS radio receivers and individual controls, two external venetian blinds also equipped with VC420 PLUS, a glass-roof awning with lighting, a vertical ZIP awning with VC470 PLUS, and two roller doors with Beck-O-Tronic 6.
The external VC420 PLUS and VC470 PLUS radio receivers play a particularly important role, as they are ideally suited for retrofitting existing roller shutter and sun protection systems. The VC420 PLUS is simply installed behind an existing individual control unit, enabling a combination of radio control and local operation. This allows a hard-wired drive to be integrated into a radio control system quickly and easily. The VC470 PLUS is also an external radio receiver, but features a standardized Hirschmann connector, making it particularly suitable for conveniently upgrading sun protection applications with radio control.
For the roller shutter drives, models from Becker’s EVO series were selected. They offer end users several advantages: thanks to modern BLDC technology, the drives operate particularly quietly, noticeably increasing living comfort. Different travel profiles also allow the operating behavior to be adapted to specific requirements, for example for fast opening or especially quiet operation.
Depending on the version, users also benefit from additional functions such as configuration via Bluetooth® and a smartphone app. In combination with integrated CentronicPlus radio technology, the drives can be reliably networked, their status can be fed back, and integration into the CentralControl CC41 enables convenient smart control.
All products operate using Becker’s CentronicPlus radio system. In addition to enabling wireless control, the system also provides status feedback from the connected applications. The systems are controlled via the Becker CentralControl CC41, the company’s smart control centre for roller shutters and sun protection systems. It connects the various applications throughout the house, creating the basis for an intelligent home.
This allows roller shutters, external venetian blinds and sun protection products to be controlled centrally, operated by voice command and managed flexibly while away from home, for example via smartphone. For the user, this means a significant increase in convenience, transparency and control in everyday life.
Greater convenience, energy efficiency and security in everyday life
The system was designed around three main requirements: greater convenience, improved energy efficiency and enhanced security. More specifically, the solutions were intended to provide effective heat protection on three sides of the building, increase protection against burglary and enable extensive automation.
Today, the effectiveness of these measures is evident in everyday use: the roller shutters and external venetian blinds are controlled centrally via time, sun and rain functions, while operation via app, handheld transmitter and individual wall switches is also available.
The glass-roof awning is protected by the SC911 PLUS sensor mounted on the façade. It provides added security when the weather changes suddenly and responds to sunlight, wind and rain. During a thunderstorm, for example, the awning retracts automatically, reliably protecting it against weather-related damage.
Intelligent functions with real added value
Time programmes, scenes, logic functions, as well as sun, twilight, wind and rain functions are used regularly. One particularly practical feature for the resident is the ability to move several roller shutters simultaneously into a predefined ventilation position via the app. Individually configured scenarios like these provide greater convenience throughout the day and demonstrate how easily even complex functions can be used in a modern home.
Professional planning that pays off in everyday use
One particular challenge in this project was programming the system and carefully checking the defined logic functions. This clearly demonstrates how important technical expertise and precise commissioning are to ensure that all components work together seamlessly. Once the system has been set up correctly, its greatest advantage becomes apparent in everyday operation: many processes run automatically in the background, noticeably reducing the burden on the user. “Once everything has been programmed, it runs by itself and you no longer have to worry about it,” the resident concludes.
A reference project that sets an example
The reference project in Zittau impressively demonstrates how thoughtful planning, professional expertise and modern Becker technology work together. For specialist retailers, the project serves as an example of flexible, expandable and technically sophisticated solutions. For the end user, the result is an intelligent home that combines convenience, protection and energy efficiency in a compelling way.
