Becker-Antriebe visits Silinski Rolladen
Personal advice, craftsmanship and future-ready technology from a single source
How are smart home technology, automation and sustainable drive solutions changing the day-to-day work of specialist companies? What do private homeowners and renovators expect from roller shutters, sun protection systems and building components today? To get first-hand answers to these questions, Becker field sales representative Manfred Tews and Head of Marketing Dominik Herr visited Silinski Rolladen GmbH in Hannover-Badenstedt.
The visit focused on personal dialogue, current market developments and the partnership between Silinski and Becker, which has been in place since 2018.
From roller shutter specialist to full-service provider
The story of Silinski Rolladen GmbH began in 1981. Company founder Georg Silinski initially established the business as a specialist company for the manufacture and installation of roller shutters. As customer requirements grew, the company continuously expanded its range of products and services.
The company initially expanded into window construction. Aluminium windows were followed by the manufacture and installation of PVC windows. Later, canopies, sun protection systems and customised solutions covering the entire range of building components were added. Today, the company’s portfolio includes energy-efficient windows and doors, roller shutters, awnings, canopies, insect screens, smart home solutions, as well as services relating to security, maintenance and energy-efficient modernisation.
Following the successful development of the business, Georg Silinski handed the company over to his nephew Christian Silinski. Since 2016, Christian has been managing the company together with Dejan Beretic. Their areas of responsibility complement each other perfectly: as a trained industrial mechanic, Christian Silinski contributes his technical expertise and craftsmanship, while Dejan Beretic, a trained business professional, is responsible for the company’s commercial, organisational and strategic activities.
Together, they lead a team of nine covering every stage of the process, from consultation and planning through to professional installation at the customer’s premises. The company primarily serves customers in Hannover and the surrounding Hannover region.
Quality you can experience first-hand
One of Silinski Rolladen GmbH’s particular strengths is its consistent focus on private home builders, homeowners and renovators. Whether the project involves replacing just a single window or roller shutter, modernising an apartment or carrying out a complete energy-efficient renovation of a residential property makes no difference.
The company sees itself as a personal point of contact, supporting its customers throughout the entire project. Working closely with energy consultants, the team can assess eligibility for funding where required, plan appropriate energy-efficiency measures and implement the selected solutions on a turnkey basis.
The extensively equipped showroom at the company’s premises plays a key role in this approach. Here, prospective customers can experience and try out windows, sun protection systems, awnings and home automation solutions first-hand. The consultation concept follows a simple principle: making quality visible and, quite literally, tangible.
Smart home technology and automation are shaping the future
In their conversation with Manfred Tews and Dominik Herr, it became clear just how significantly the requirements of private customers have changed in recent years. According to Christian Silinski and Dejan Beretic, three developments in particular are shaping the market.
First and foremost is the increasing integration of roller shutters, sun protection systems and other applications into smart home systems. Today, customers want to control their home technology as conveniently and intuitively as possible via smartphone or tablet – both at home and while on the move.
At the same time, automated control is becoming increasingly important. Individual time programmes and sensors that respond to sun, wind or rain ensure that roller shutters and sun protection systems automatically adapt to the current conditions. This not only increases living comfort, but can also improve a building’s energy efficiency and security.
Another growing area is solar-powered drives. They enable largely self-sufficient, wireless retrofitting without the need to install cables inside the building or open up walls. This makes them an attractive solution for many homeowners, particularly when it comes to modernisation projects.
Future-ready solutions
As a specialist company, Silinski does not develop its own drives or control systems, but relies on proven and innovative solutions from Becker for its customer projects. A key factor is that the technology can be flexibly adapted to the individual living environment and the customer’s specific requirements. From simple time-based controls to comprehensive smart home integration, a wide range of products is available for use in both new-build and modernisation projects.
Becker’s proprietary Centronic and CentronicPlus radio systems provide an important foundation. They enable wireless operation and automation of roller shutters and sun protection systems. This allows applications to be conveniently controlled using handheld transmitters, wall-mounted transmitters or a central control unit, without the need to install additional wiring for every control point. Radio technology therefore offers practical advantages, particularly for renovation and retrofit projects.
These systems are complemented by modern, cross-manufacturer technologies such as DECT and Matter. With DECT-enabled drives, roller shutters can, for example, be integrated directly into a home automation system via a compatible FRITZ!Box. Matter, on the other hand, makes it easier to connect different smart home products and platforms. This allows applications from different manufacturers to be brought together within a single user interface. For end customers, this provides a particularly flexible solution that can also be expanded at a later date.
For conventional time-based control, Silinski uses solutions including the Becker TimeControl TC72. The timer allows roller shutters or sun protection systems to open and close automatically at predefined times, making it easy to automate recurring daily routines. Depending on the settings, the systems can, for example, open automatically in the morning and close again in the evening. This increases living comfort while also creating the impression that the home is occupied, even when the residents are away.
For centralised control of Becker radio products, Becker offers two of its own solutions: the CentralControl CC11 and CentralControl CC41. Both central control units are specifically designed to operate and network applications within the Becker Centronic and CentronicPlus radio systems. “For us, it is essential that the technology not only offers a wide range of functions, but is also reliable and practical to use. With the CC11 and CC41, we can offer our customers either a simple local control solution or a comprehensive, internet-enabled smart home solution, depending on their needs,” explains Christian Silinski, Managing Director of Silinski Rolladen GmbH.
The CentralControl CC11 is a compact and convenient plug-in control unit. It simply plugs into a free power socket and operates entirely without an internet connection. Paired roller shutters and sun protection applications can be conveniently controlled from within the home and combined into groups or automated routines. As no internet connection is required, the CC11 is particularly suitable for customers looking for a straightforward solution that operates locally. All control remains entirely within the home.
The CentralControl CC41 offers significantly more extensive possibilities. It serves as the central interface for a connected home, linking paired Becker applications to create an intelligent overall system. Roller shutters, sun protection systems and other compatible applications can be controlled via the CentralControl app using a smartphone or tablet. Thanks to its internet connection, this is possible not only from home but also while on the move. For example, users can check from the office or while on holiday whether the roller shutters are closed and adjust them to the desired position if necessary.
In combination with sensors, the systems respond to external conditions such as sunlight, wind or rain. This allows sun protection systems to extend automatically when rooms become too warm and retract again automatically in adverse weather conditions. This increases comfort, protects the system and can also contribute to more energy-efficient building operation.
By combining drives, radio systems, time controls and smart home central control units, Silinski can offer its customers solutions tailored precisely to their individual needs. The range extends from simple local operation to comprehensive, internet-enabled home automation. At the same time, the systems remain flexible and expandable, allowing them to be adapted to changing living situations or new technical requirements.
“Today, our customers want solutions that are convenient, easy to understand and designed for long-term use. That is why it is important for a system to be expandable at a later stage and adaptable to new requirements. This is exactly the kind of flexibility we can offer with Becker products,” adds Dejan Beretic.
A partnership on equal terms
The partnership between Silinski and Becker began in 2018. The first key contact was established at the R+T trade fair in Stuttgart. Since then, the relationship has developed into a successful, long-term partnership. For Christian Silinski and Dejan Beretic, Becker’s commitment to quality, innovative strength and broad product portfolio are particularly well aligned with their own company philosophy. In their view, the solutions developed and manufactured in Germany stand for reliability and durability. At the same time, the extensive product range ensures that a suitable drive is available for a wide variety of structural conditions and customer requirements. Personal support is equally important. Short communication channels, straightforward technical support and direct dialogue provide confidence and reliability in day-to-day operations. As a certified Becker Profi-Partner, the Silinski team also regularly takes part in training courses. In some cases, new products can be tested at an early stage, allowing the team to incorporate its experience directly into its day-to-day consultation and installation work. This ensures that the specialist company remains up to date with the latest technology and can provide its customers with expert advice on new developments.
The EVO drive as a frequently used solution
In principle, Silinski uses a large proportion of the Becker product range, depending on the requirements of each individual project. However, the Becker EVO drive is used particularly frequently. From the specialist company’s perspective, the drive combines technical innovation with a well-thought-out operating and installation concept. For installers, this means efficient and straightforward installation. At the same time, end customers benefit from intuitive operation and practical functions that provide noticeable added value in everyday use. This combination of ease of use, technical functionality and high quality standards makes the EVO drive a preferred solution for Silinski in numerous customer projects.
Personal dialogue as the foundation for successful collaboration
The visit to Hannover demonstrated just how important direct dialogue between manufacturers and specialist partners is. Face-to-face discussions provide an ideal opportunity to bring together practical experience from day-to-day work, current customer requirements and new technological developments.
The visit to Silinski Rolladen GmbH clearly showed that personal advice, craftsmanship and innovative technology are not mutually exclusive. Together, they form the basis for solutions that are individually planned, reliably implemented and designed for long-term use.
