Becker-Antriebe GmbH sets new standards for building automation with SMI 3.0
Meaningful further development for maximum future security
Becker-Antriebe now offers all SMI drives and the KNX/SMI actuator with the latest certification according to SMI 3.0. This ensures that the company’s products will continue to meet the growing requirements of modern building automation in the future.
SMI – the Standard Motor Interface – ensures that all components of building automation communicate with each other in a common language. This prevents isolated solutions and enables manufacturer-independent, future-proof planning.
SMI 3.0: Extended Specifications for the Digital Future
With the update to SMI 3.0, the specifications have been expanded and adapted to the new requirements of digitalization. The key benefits at a glance:
- Backward Compatibility: SMI 3.0 is fully compatible with previous versions – ensuring planning reliability and interchangeability.
- Unified Properties: Characteristics and statuses can now be retrieved in a standardized way. This significantly simplifies commissioning and maintenance processes.
- Optimized Hardware: The drives are even more robust and offer an extended temperature range.
- New Features: Support for drives with speed control and optimized control of venetian blinds.
Easy Installation and Convenient Operation
The 16-channel KNX/SMI actuator with a Bluetooth interface enables quick and easy installation via a free app. The end position setting of the drives is carried out using a standard SMI setting cable – completely without programming knowledge. In addition, up to 16 drives can be connected in parallel and controlled with precise angle adjustment.
Regulatory Adjustment and Transition Period
Since January 1, 2025, only devices compliant with SMI 3.0 may be placed on the market. Due to economic conditions, the deadline has been extended to July 1, 2025. Becker is therefore optimally prepared and offers its partners the necessary security for future projects. “With certification according to SMI 3.0, we underline our commitment to offering our customers state-of-the-art technology that is not only powerful but also future-proof. This ensures that our partners are perfectly equipped for the upcoming requirements of building automation,” explains Marcel Menger, who is responsible for the sale of SMI products at Becker.
